Project Description

For this project, I created a 3–5 second animated showreel opener that reveals my name using hand-drawn FX animation. The goal was to design a short, visually appealing intro that reflects my personal style and animation skills. The project highlighted my understanding of motion, timing, and visual design, serving as a strong and engaging introduction to my demo reel or portfolio.

Process

Research & Planning

First we needed to research our name layout with different fonts in a list we were limited to. Once we were able to get an certain font and layout approved, I sketched out the layout i wanted for the animated design aspect. Playing with composition, shape, and eventually, color. As well as creating a storyboard.

Shapes Test

After getting the design approved, I timed out the basic shapes that were going to be animated to get my spacing and timing in the right spot before adding detail.

Animation And Revision

Next was re-drawing the frames so that the shape test would become the first pass design with animation.
