Project Description
For this project, I created a 10-second animation in After Effects representing the five senses; sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Each sense lasted about two seconds, using consistent design, color, and motion for sequential unity. The animation combined simple vector shapes, photography, real textures, and typography, with no characters or illustrations. I used masking and matting techniques like track mattes and layer masks to create transitions and effects. The final piece applied key animation principles and included synced audio for a cohesive, expressive result.
Process
Design
This project was part of a series of 5 projects all due in a small amount of time. Due to this structure, I had only 1 pass for design and research before taking the design into animation revisions. Though I was able to fix the design while working on the animation. Because of this, I didnt study much on design, composition, or finding any references. The only thing i knew was it needed to be collage with vector elements supporting the design.
Because of this, My first pass design was a struggle. Though i love the end product. Because of critique i got from my peers and teacher, this became one of my favorite projects from the class.

Results
Even though we had a very fast timeline for this project of 3 weeks from ideation to final animation, the end result of the project turned out better than i had expected. I think during my sophomore year, this was the project where I realized i was learning a lot from Ringling and believed I was making good work with it.
